Teletubbies Themed Birthday Party

Ages: 1 to 3

Invitations:

A fun invitation idea is to have pictures of one of the Teletubbies printed, make them large enough that you can write the party information on the screen on their bellies.

Decoration Ideas

The teletubbies are red, yellow, purple and green, use these colors as your basis for picking out streamers, table cloths, balloons and utensils. If you can get posters of the teletubbies that would be a great addition. Laa-Laa’s favorite item is a ball, put different kinds of balls all over the party area for a fun and playful effect.

Craft Ideas

Since teletubbies appeal to a very young age group, odds are you will need a simple craft. Provide the children with stickers or items they can easily glue to party hats (hats are Dipsy’s favorite thing) or bags (Tinky Winky’s favorite thing).

Another idea is to have the kids color on their own flags (these can be as simple as paper taped to a straw). The teletubbies love parades and when the kids are done they can line up in the party area and have their own parade to show off their flags.

Game Ideas

The teletubbies love dancing. There are many segments from the shows that show the teletubbies dancing. You can play music and have the kids dance or play a portion of the show with the teletubbies dancing and have the kids dance along.

In the show there is a vacuum cleaner called the Noo-noo. Sometimes the Noo-noo accidently vacuums up the teletubbies favorite things. When that happens the teletubbies chase the Noo-noo around. This can very easily be used as the basis for a twist on Duck, Duck, Goose. Have the children sit in a circle. One child is it and they will walk around and around the children. The child that is it is the Noo-noo. When the child that is it stops at a person that person must yell out their favorite thing. Then the Noo-noo decides if he wants to vacuum it up or not. If he does he says slurp-slurp. The child who was sitting chases the Noo-noo just like Duck, Duck, Goose. If the Noo-noo gets all the way around the circle and sits down, the other child is the Noo-noo. If the other child catches the Noo-noo, the Noo-noo has to pretend to give the item back and then go around the circle again and pick a new child.

Sailor Dress Up Relay

Divide the kids into groups of at least four. Have them line up at one end of the party area. At the other end put out a life preserver, sailor hat, and toy binoculars for each group. When you tell the kids to start the first kid runs down, puts the items on and then runs back. Then next kid in line must take the items from the first kid and put them on, then run down to the other end and remove the items and leave them there. They then run back to their group and the next person runs down and puts the items on. This continues until everyone on the team has worn the items at least once.

Food Ideas

The Teletubbies love to eat tubby toast and tubby custard. The tubby toast is brown with a smiley face on it. You can offer your little Teletubbies loving guests chocolate flavored cookies with smiley faces made of icing. Tubby custard is similar to pudding or yogurt. Use your child’s favorite flavor.
