Polka Dot Theme Birthday Party

Ages: 1 to 3

Invitations:

Handmade Polka Dot Birthday Party InvitationPolka Dot invitations are the easiest to make because of the wide variety of polka dot print papers available. Almost every scrapbook collection includes a polka dot prints. Look at our easy polka dotted birthday invitations created using scrapbook paper.

For non-paper invitations, one of the cutest idea is our edible M&Ms invitation. Be creative and use decorative marbles, round stickers etc. on anything that can carry an invitation.

Decoration Ideas

Use stencils or wall decals to create dots of different sizes and colors on the walls. Either do the walls or the table and other furniture. Doing both will be over-doing it. Spread a cheerful colored tablecloth with a polka dot border or place polka dot mats on the table. You can also go for a polka dot runner and napkins instead. Draw dots on balloons using a marker pen. For a quick centerpiece stick cut-out circles to cocktail sticks of varying heights and place them in a vase. You can also paint styrofoam balls and insert sticks in them and arrange in vases.

Craft Ideas

Provide toddlers with cut out circles and give them paper and glue and let them stick the circles wherever they wish. For kids aged 3, you can hand them punches to punch out their circles and have them make flowers on a sheet of paper.

They can also decorate plain party hats with circle cut outs to make their own polka dot hats.

Game Ideas

Polka Dance: Place a large round mat and ask all the kids to stand within it. Start the music and ask the kids to dance. Those who step outside the mat are out of the game.

Colored Bubbles: Add colors to bubble solution and let the kids blow colored bubbles.

Food Ideas

Decorate any cake with rolled fondant circles to make a polka dot cake. If you have time, try doing a 'stacked boxes' cake with icing polka dots on it. Decorate cupcakes and cookies with round shaped sprinkles. Serve sandwiches cut with a circle cutter. Serve fruits made into tiny balls using a melon-baller.
