Jungle Theme Party
Ages: 4 to 9
Invitations:
Make a lift the flap invitation by creating a jungle theme on a
4x5 piece of paper. Cover an animal with a leaf that can be lifted
up and write under the leaf “It’s (your child’s name) birthday!
Add another leaf in a blank area of the card and write the party
information underneath it.
Decoration Ideas
Hang lots of green streamers from the ceiling to make it feel like
a jungle. Put plants in the party area. If you are doing it
outside fill a wading pool with water and add plastic fish to make
a pond. Put out jungle stuffed animals.
Craft Ideas
Gather clean mismatched socks, buttons, felt, googly eyes and
other items to decorate puppets. Let the kids make their own snake
sock puppet.
You could also let the kids make their own binoculars by gluing
toilet paper tubes together and decorating them.
Game Ideas
Safari game
Give the kids binoculars (bought or made out of two toilet paper
rolls) and tell them that they are going on a safari to find
jungle animals. Before the party hide small stuffed animals or
plastic figurines in the party area. When the kids find an animal
have them pretend to take a picture of it.
Jungle Freeze Game
For this game tell the kids that you want them to move around
acting like a certain animal. They do this while the music is
playing. As soon as you stop the music they need to freeze. If
someone is still moving they are out (let them pick up their
goodie bag and start looking through it). You can vary the game by
telling the kids a specific animal to act like for each round.
Food
Ideas
Make a cake that looks like your child’s favorite jungle animal,
or create a jungle theme on a sheet cake. Offer animal crackers,
banana bread, trail mix, goldfish and fruit punch.
