Hero Birthday Party Theme
Ages: 4 to 8
Invitation and Decoration Ideas:
Get small plastic badges for each person that you are inviting.
You can find these at most dollar or party stores. Attach them to
a piece of cardstock by putting the pin through the paper. Then
write something like
"Be a Hero for the day. Join (child's name) for a fun party."
You could also get those plastic hats (they have fireman, and
policeman hats at most party stores) and put the information for
the party in the hat then hand deliver them to guests.
Games and Activities:
Make cards that have pictures of hero related items such as fire
engines, police cars, ambulance, etc. Make two of each picture.
Have each child pick a card out of a bowl and then yell, "find
your match." The kids must find the other person who has the same
card as them.
Have a hero obstacle course. Have helpers hold up a sheet and
shake it. The kids have to crawl under it. Next have the kids
weave in and out of cones. Have them do stop, drop and roll. Then
have them capture crooks (make a poster board with a drawing of a
crook. Give the kids beanbags that they have to throw and try to
hit the crook.)
Provide hats, fireman jacket, and other items so that all the kids
can dress up. Then have them play the save the kitten game. Divide
them into two groups and give a large beach towel to each group.
At the other end of the room have stuffed animal kittens. Tell
them that they have to go down to the kittens then hold the towel
between them, put the kitten on the towel and bring it back to
where the rest of the group was. Each person gets a turn doing the
relay.
Food and Favor Ideas:
Have cake and ice cream and then hand out fun goodie bags. Fill
the goodie bags with items like police badges, safety lights,
stickers of different rescue vehicles and a few candies.
