Dora the Explorer Theme Party
Ages: 3 to 5
Invitations:
Make an invitation that looks like backpack by using purple
cardstock. Round the corners and add a face. Write the party
information on the inside. Something along the lines of “Join Dora
for an adventure” is a perfect way to start the invitation..
Decorations:
Hang streamers and have balloons. Mexican themed party decorations
would fit in well. You can also incorporate any Dora toys or
pictures. Hang stars from the ceiling to represent the stars Dora
and Boots catch.
Party Crafts & Activities:
Have the kids make a bracelet like Dora’s. Her bracelet has yellow
beads and a blue flower in the center. You could also make star
shaped sugar cookies and let the kids decorate them to look like
the stars that Dora and Boots catch to help them on their
adventures.
Games and Activities:
Boots Shoe Game
Boots loves his red boots. You can have the kids play this fun
shoe game. Have the kids remove one of their shoes and put it in a
pile in the center of the room. Have the kids close their eyes and
have them try to find their shoe. When they find what they think
is their shoe they put it on. The kids will get a laugh out of
seeing where the shoes ended up.
Dora has been to many parties in her adventures and they almost
always have a piñata. Incorporate a piñata in your party too.
Follow the Map
In the show the Map tells Dora how to get to where she needs to
go. Make a map for the kids that looks like Dora’s Map. Have a
picture of a place in the party area on the map. When the kids get
to that spot give them another picture. Do this three times and at
the last spot have a treasure chest or box with their goodie bags
in it.
Food Ideas:
Dora shaped fruit snacks, Mexican foods like; tacos, tortilla
chips and dip, and quesadillas, and cookies are all great foods
for a Dora themed party.
The Nick Jr. website has instructions and recipes for creating a
cake that looks like Dora. You could also easily decorate a sheet
cake to look like Map or Backpack.
