Curious George Birthday Party Theme
Ages: 3 to 7
Invitation and Decoration Ideas:
Make a card with a picture of Curious George on the front and
write something like, "Want to know what George is curious about?"
Then on the inside put a picture of your child and write,
"(child's name) birthday!" Then give the information for the
party. Decorate with yellow balloons and green streamers. Use
bananas as balloon weights.
Games and Activities:
Set up a game of find the monkey. Get a couple of barrel of Monkey
games and hide the monkeys throughout the party area. Let the kids
find them.
Fill a jar with Runts candies and have the kids guess how many
bananas are in the jar. The kid that gets the closest wins the jar
filled with candy.
Give each of the kids a brown lunch sack. Before the party cut out
shapes to make a monkey face. Let the kids create their monkey
puppets by gluing the pieces on. Provide them with crayons to add
their own decorations as well.
Play Monkey in the Middle. Have the kids stand in a circle and
have one kid stand in the middle. Give the kids three different
types of objects like a bean bag, balloon and soft small ball.
Have the kids toss them to each other trying to keep them away
from the person in the middle. When the person in the middle
catches one, they get to be one of the kids in the circle and the
person who threw the ball that they caught becomes the monkey in
the middle.
Food Ideas:
Serve Monkey Chow (trail mix with banana chips), Monkey Bread
(recipe found below), monkey tails (corn dogs), animal crackers,
banana bread, banana splits and banana milkshakes. Spray paint
cheap cowboy hats yellow and serve the monkey chow and animal
crackers in them.
Monkey Bread
2 cans refrigerated canned biscuits
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. Cinnamon
4 tablespoons butter
In a small sauce pan melt the butter and add the brown sugar and
cinnamon. While the butter is melting pull the biscuits in half
and put them in a bundt pan. Pour the brown sugar mixture over the
biscuits and bake at 425 degrees for about 15-20 minutes. This
makes a wonderful treat that tastes a lot like caramelized
cinnamon rolls.
