Carnival Themed Party
Ages: 5 to 8
Invitations:
Make a simple invitation that looks like a large carnival ticket.
Write the party information on the back.
Or make our
'FUNDAY' Carnival invites and put the tickets in a 'pocket'
for use later during the party.
Decoration Ideas
Set up a ticket booth using either a table or a large box. Be sure
there is a large sign that says tickets. Have an adult or older
sibling in the booth to hand out tickets to partygoers. Put
groupings of balloons and streamers all over the party area.
Craft Ideas
Get plain white handled bags. Provide the kids with markers,
crayons, glitter, stickers etc. and let them decorate their own
loot bags. Be sure each kids name is somewhere on the bag.
No carnival would be complete without face painting. Have an adult
paint kids faces while the other kids work on their loot bags.
Game Ideas
Set up booths in the party area where the kids get to turn in a
ticket to play a game. Following are booth ideas, you can change
them as needed to suit your party. Give small prizes at each of
the booths for the kids to put in their loot bags.
• Basketball Shooting
• Ball Toss (toss 3 softballs into a basket, win a prize)
• Guess the number of jelly beans or animal crackers in the jar
• Lollipop pull
• Mystery box (try to guess the item in the box)
• Photo board (where the kids can put their heads through a hole
and be a part of the scene)
• Bottle knock down game
• Spray Game-place ping pong balls on top of golf tees pushed into
a hole on a box. The kids get water guns to try and knock them
off.
Food
Ideas
Offer carnival foods like popcorn, hot dogs, pizza slices, cotton
candy, chips, ice cream and soda pop. Put the popcorn in popcorn
bags and get hot dog wrappers to complete the feel of a carnival
(these items can be found online or at restaurant supply stores).
Make a round cake look like a balloon or decorate a sheet cake to
look like a carnival booth. Or make the popular Carousel cake
shown to your right.
