Camp Out Themed Party

Ages: 5 to 8

Invitations:

Make cut a piece of paper to look like a tent. Cut a flap where the door of the tent would be and glue a piece of paper behind it. Write the party information under the flap.

Decoration Ideas

Set up tents in the party area. Put out camping supplies like a first aid kit, sleeping bags, lanterns etc. Decorate with green streamers and balloons.

Craft Ideas

Have the kids form small groups and make a flag for each of the tents using fabric markers. When they are done put the flags in the ground in front of the tents.

Game Ideas

Hide fake bugs in the party area before the guests arrive. Divide them into small groups (perhaps the same groups they were in to make the flags), give each group a bucket and have them collect the bugs they find. The group with the most bugs gets a small prize.

Have a fort building contest. Divide the kids into groups and provide them with chairs, blankets and pillows. When they are done building the fort they have to all fit inside. This game makes great funny photos.

Have a sleeping bag race. Provide the kids with burlap sacks (sleeping bags) for the race.

Tell ghost stories while the kids eat their snacks.

Food Ideas

S’mores, hot dogs, baked beans, chips, crackers, candy and any other camping food you can think of. Make the cake look like a tent or decorate a sheet cake to look like a camping scene. Check out our Camping themed cake (right) for a spectacular cake idea that will be the talk of the party.
