Barnyard Themed Party for Toddlers and Kids
Ages: 2 to 4
Invitations:
Make an invitation that looks like a barn. Cut out a door that you
can open and close. Glue a piece of white paper behind the door
and write the party information on it. Encourage the party guests
to dress up in overalls, straw hats, flannel shirts and bandanas.
Decorations:
Decorate with bales of hay, corn husks, pumpkins, a scarecrow,
bowls of apples, straw hats, a red wagon, rope, stuffed animals,
red balloons and red streamers. Put gingham cloths on the food
tables. Put flowers in pails and buckets as decorations on the
food table.
Party Crafts & Activities:
Give the kids play dough and let them make animals with it.
Make sugar cookies in farm animal shapes and have the kids
decorate them.
Provide the kids with yellow cotton balls and let them add googly
eyes, a beak and legs to make their own little chicks.
Hard boil eggs and provide the kids with dyes and other
decorations. If you have a younger set of guests you might
consider using plastic eggs and letting the kids decorate them
with stickers.
Games and Activities:
Blow up white balloons and draw cow faces and spots on them.
Provide the kids with new fly swatters and have them “herd” the
cattle into a certain area. Younger kids will especially enjoy
this game.
Hoe-Down - There are a multitude of kid favorite songs that relate
to a barnyard theme such as Old McDonald, Bingo, the Chicken
Dance, the Farmer in the Dell and many more. Find a CD with these
kids favorites and let the kids dance to them.
Multiple kid games are already perfect for a barnyard theme; Duck
Duck Goose, pin the tail on the Donkey, egg-spoon race and others.
Food Ideas:
Have apples, milk, watermelon slices, corn on the cob, corn bread
and chips. Make cupcakes that look like farm animals by adding
candies to make faces and ears. You can make the cake look like a
barn and add small plastic animals as decorations, or you can
decorate a sheet cake to have a barnyard scene.
