Handmade Birthday Gift Ideas

Kids will love to receive their own personalized sheet to sleep in every night.

You Will Need:

1. Cotton fabric for the sheet

2. Printed Fabric for the border

3. Contrasting fabric for appliqués

4. Machine or Hand Embroidery Supplies

5. Fusible Webbing

Directions:

1. Cut two pieces from the cotton fabric to make the front and back of the sheet.

2. Cut out elephant (or any other desired) shapes from the contrasting fabric. From other colorful scraps, cut out balloons and hat.

3. Fuse the appliqués to one of the sheet fabrics and machine or hand appliqué (blanket stitch) them.

4. Embroider the elephant's eyes, balloon strings and child's name.

5. Now hold the prepared sheet and the plain backing sheet together, wrong sides facing and pin them. Top stitch the border on all sides making gathers as you go.

Note: You can use ideas from the birthday theme to make other appliqués.
